Dirty Dozen Raises £19,846 for Dementia UK in Three Peaks Challenge

June 18, 2024

With spirits soaring and hearts brimming with hope, they pressed onward, united and resolute, overcoming every hurdle in their path. Their noble mission: to raise funds and awareness for Dementia UK, making a significant impact on the lives of those living with dementia.

The Dirty Dozen embraced their mission with unwavering courage and determination, setting an ambitious goal to raise as much as possible for Dementia UK. This lofty objective spurred our twelve participants to conquer the highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales.

The National Three Peaks Challenge is The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft) – twice the ascent of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, over a similar total walking distance. The total driving distance is 462 miles.

  • Snowdon, in Wales (1085m)
  • Scafell Pike, in England (978m)
  • Ben Nevis, in Scotland (1345m)

A popular misconception is that the three mountains that form the challenge are the three tallest on the British mainland. Rather, they are the tallest mountains within each representative country: Scafell Pike is the tallest in England; Snowdon, the tallest in Wales and Ben Nevis the tallest in Scotland — over one hundred peaks in Scotland are higher than Scafell Pike, and 56 higher than Snowdon.

This arduous journey not only marked a personal milestone for each team member but also provided a powerful platform to support a vital cause.

Introducing our heroes, the 12-strong Powersystems Dirty Dozen team: Marlize Wood, Andrew Hislop, Jacob Turner, Scott Pearce, Mia Thorpe, Darren Williams, Caity Collier, Alfie Bennett, Gavin Cook, Chris Jenkins, Trevor Bamber, and Joel Blount.

Raise a glass and celebrate their extraordinary achievement! The Dirty Dozen are pragmatic, heroic, and stoic individuals united by a single mission: to make a difference in the lives of those affected by dementia.

Raising an incredible £19,846, we extend our heartfelt thanks to each of them for their phenomenal effort.
