Powersystems announce electrical works contract for the 72 MW Enoch Hill wind farm

July 4, 2023

Powering the transition to a carbon free future, Powersystems are delighted to announce the contract award for the electrical balance of plant works at Enoch Hill 72 MW Wind Farm by Farrans Construction on behalf of mutual client RWE.

The RWE Enoch Hill Wind Farm is in East Ayrshire, near to the village of New Cumnock. It has taken the client over 7 years to bring the proposed wind farm at Enoch Hill to fruition.

The Enoch hill wind farm will have an installed capacity of 72 MW to generate clean, green electricity.

Experience in the design and installation of high voltage electrical infrastructure has placed Powersystems in a position ideally suited to carry out wind farm electrical balance of plant contracts (eBoP), this is all the infrastructure and facilities of a wind turbine installation except for the turbine itself, encompassing all aspects of the wind energy project not covered in the turbine supply contract.

Powersystems engineers are highly experienced in the design, specification, installation and commissioning of wind farm substations, switchgeartransformerscable infrastructureearthing systems and SCADA cabling, enabling the complete installation to be carried out.

Powersystems have been awarded the contract for provision of design, supply, Installation, and commissioning of the electrical works at Enoch Hill wind farm project.

The project consists of a 33 kV cable connected to Scottish Powers’ 132 kV substation. There are 3 arrays with a total of 15 no. of Nordex WTG’s with approximately 72 MW capacity.

The Principal Contractor is Farrans Construction based in Dunmurry Belfast, with RWE renewable UK Onshore Wind Limited as the client.

The sub-contract with a value of £3.1 million, was awarded to Powersystems in April 2023, and its initial design and system studies have been initiated. The project is expected to complete by March 2025.

As part of building the UK carbon free future, Powersystems proudly support the design, installation, and commissioning of climate restoration technologies with connectivity in all renewable sectors.
Powersystems are powering the UK to a green recovery, with 6 GW of installed green energy as they play their part helping to decarbonise the National Grid.
