Powersystems is delighted to announce it has been awarded the electrical balance of plant (EBoP) contract by A E Yates; who are focused on delivering integrated, sustainable civil engineering and ground engineering to the benefit of all. They have been appointed to construct the 12 turbines collectively rated at 36 MW Pines Burn wind farm on behalf of their mutual client Energiekontor UK.
Powersystems are also delighted to announce the 33 kV private wire electrical contract award for the Pines Burn wind farm infrastructure project.
Pines Burn Wind Farm is a 36 MW onshore wind power subsidy free project. Located on the Harwood Estate near Bonchester Bridge and Hawick in the Scottish Borders.
The 33 kV wind farm project will be developed in single phase, consisting of 12 wind turbines, with tip heights between 130m and 149.9m. The development will be operational for a 25 year period, post completion of the construction, the project is expected to be commissioned in 2023.
Once operational in the second half of 2023, the facility will produce green electricity equal to the annual consumption of more than 23,200 households. It is expected to offset 0.5 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions during its lifetime.
“We will continue the successive and successful realisation of our well-filled project pipeline in Scotland in the months to come. By doing so, we also contribute to increasing Scotland’s independence from fossil fuels and to achieve its goal to reach ‘net zero’ by 2045,” said Energiekontor’s chief executive Peter Szabo.
In April 2022 Capital Dynamics acquired a 100% equity stake in the 36 MW Pines Burn wind project in Scotland from Energiekontor.
Pines Burn represents Capital Dynamics Clean Energy’s third successful UK acquisition from its partnership with Energiekontor following the acquisition of the Longhill and Sorbie wind projects in 2021.
Capital Dynamics Clean Energy co-head Barney Coles said: “With the increasing importance of energy security in Europe, we are delighted to add Pines Burn Wind Farm to our extensive programme of investments in the build-out of new, renewable power generation capacity across the continent.
“Our long-standing collaboration with Energiekontor continues to deliver infrastructure that will underpin reductions in household energy bills in the long run, and create local green jobs that support the UK’s ‘levelling up’ agenda whilst making a meaningful contribution towards its net zero ambitions.”
Energikontor has already been able to sell almost 100MW of wind projects and said it will continue to realise its project pipeline in Scotland.
During construction, Pine Burns will employ over 85 workers, many from the local area.
